The Russian Front was the decisive theatre of WWII, as the German army and Luftwaffe fought against the Red Army in the greatest land battle in history. Had the Germans won in the East, a Nazi victory in WWII would have become inevitable, yet in 1941 the Germans suffered their first significant defeat at the gates of Moscow.
